China Mobile Communications Corporation and Shanghai Municipal Government signed an "Internet +" strategic cooperation agreement on September 21.
China Mobile plans to invest CNY 26 billion in Shanghai during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, aiming to build a new-generation network and information infrastructure and to actively promote the development of "Internet+" in city management, industrial upgrading, cultural creativity, livelihood services, innovation and entrepreneurship, network security and other fields.
According to the agreement, China Mobile Shanghai Branch will build a new generation network and information infrastructure to create nation's leading 4G+ network and to be the first one to carry out 5G trials in China in 2018. The optical network will cover 9 million homes and 8,300 commercial buildings; it will build China Mobile's international submarine optical cable landing station in Lingang, Shanghai; furthermore, it will build a new dedicated IoT capable of 500 million connections with a citywide coverage and promote the construction of a 200,000-square- meter green cloud data center in Lingang.
