China Telecom's Cooperation with China Unicom Will Save Both Expenditures of CNY 3.3 Billion

China Telecom released the earning results in 1H16 on August 23.

China Telecom & China Unicom have been co-constructing 4G base stations & optical networks, which is estimated to save capital expenditures of CNY 3 billion and operating expenses of CNY 300 million this year for the former and CNY 3.3 billion for the later, Yang Jie, chairman & CEO of China Telecom said at the interim report of 2016.

Yang Xiaowei, chairman & COO of China Telecom pointed out that the two operators cooperated for profits, not to rival China Mobile.

Yang Jie said that the tower rents will decline with the increasing tower sharing rate. China Tower expected the leasing costs to be 20% higher than the self-building costs in March 2016 while the former is 10% higher than the later now.

China's three major operators claimed that they had all agreed on the tower rents and the pricing of related assets with China Tower on July 8.

Liu Aili, chairman of China Tower said that the company has owed CNY 150 billion in 1H16 with a negative margin of 4.6%.
