Average Fixed Broadband Access Rate Hits 29.5Mbps in China

Feng Fei, vice minister of MIIT, introduced the overall operation of industry and communications in China in 1H16 at the press conference State Council Information Office held on July 25.

Wen Ku, director of Department of Communications Development of MIIT, pointed out that by the end of May the average fixed broadband access rate has risen to 29.5Mbps from 20.5Mbps a year ago while FTTH users has reached 180 million, 66.4% of the broadband users in China, and 4G subscribers hit 580 million which is 44.7% of the total mobile subscribers in China. With Internet penetration rate greatly improved, the household penetration of fixed broadband has reached 55% and that of mobile broadband comes to 62.6%.
