Li Huidi, EVP of China Mobile, said at MWCS 2016 (Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2016) that China Mobile has been driving the development of home broadband services and targets to add 18 million home broadband subscribers this year.
China Mobile also keeps carrying out the "Broadband China" project so as to promote the development of smart home industry.
China Mobile has been focusing on fixed broadband in the last two years and the other two major operators in China are threatened by this. The fixed broadband subscribers of China Mobile reached 62.65 million by the end of May, nearly one-third of China's fixed broadband subscribers. The battle for home broadband subscribers tends to be more intense to the three telecom giants.
