Last week, China Unicom Beijing Branch (hereinafter referred to as Beijing Unicom) announced that it started improving the broadband speed in large scale for the fifth time. The fiber broadband of Beijing Unicom will be twice faster in nearly 4 million houses while the broadband speed of mainstream subscribers will reach 50-200M. Beijing Unicom will also introduce 1000M home broadband products.
Beijing Unicom is reported to achieve all-optical network by the end of June 2016 and over 90% of its home broadband will exceed 50M. For the copper wire broadband subscribers, China Unicom promises free optical network upgrade now.
At the same time, Beijing Unicom launched 4K Ultra HD broadband TV services (Beijing IPTV).
Beijing Unicom said that FTTH broadband access, 4G+ mobile access and home gateway will all achieve 100M bandwidth in the smart homes in Beijing through the large-scale speed-up of broadband.
