On May 16th, China Mobile Shanghai branch (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai Mobile) announced that its 4G subscribers have exceeded 10 million, implying that there is one 4G subscriber of every two mobile subscribers of Shanghai Mobile. General manager of Shanghai Mobile Chen Li said that it only took 2 years for its 4G subscribers to exceed 10 million as its 4G services were officially launched in April 2014.
By May this year, Shanghai Mobile has deployed and opened more than 25,000 4G base stations, achieving complete population coveragein Shanghai. It also initiatively introduced "4G+" services with doubled-speed network and better call clarity.
VoLTE has achieved unification of voice and data in the same network carrying domain, which makes voice calls answered faster, voice quality better, video picture smoother and clearer. In May, 2016, Shanghai Mobile first realized VoLTE commercialization in the whole city.
