In the recently held “2015 Future 5G ICT Summit ”, director of Spectrum Planning department of Radio Administration Bureau of MIIT Li Hengshuai said, 5G has put forward higher requirements for the spectrum resources.
As the main authority of telecom industry, the Radio Administration Bureau of MIIT shall allocate more frequency bands for 5G mobile communications. According to his introduction, relevant departments are studying the sharing mechanism of dynamic frequency spectrum.
Judging by the government’s view, the previously used frequencies are basically static and are assigned to certain industries or departments for their own use, and the other industries and departments need other frequencies. However, the frequency resource is becoming more and more limited while the demands continue to increase, how to improve the efficiency of frequency spectrum usage and keep them in services has become an important issue for the government.
"In the future, we will conduct lean management on frequency spectrum and may develop further restrictions on the frequency spectrum usage conditions, so that we can improve the efficiency of spectrum usage. We have also taken active moves and will carry out pilot work on some frequency bands when appropriate."
