According to the informed sources, China Unicom has officially provided 20 million new phone numbers to 23 virtual operators that have conducted mobile resale services with the operator, the numbers are of 1707 and 1708 sections.
Previously, MIIT has released 1709, 1705 and 1700 number sections with about 10 million numbers to the mobile resale enterprises through the major operators. Due to the rapid development of virtual operators in cooperation with China Unicom, the 1709 number section cannot meet the demands of its virtual operators, with no new number resources, the virtual operators in the first echelon cannot continue to expand their user scales.
After the release of 20 million new phone numbers, the first two batches of mobile resale enterprises including Snail Mobile, D-phone and Bus online will get enough numbers for the current situation. Especially for Snail Mobile, after it first achieved the 1 million customers, the order exceeded 10 million in its third partner conference with the offline agents, therefore, it will temporarily solve the problem of short supply after the release of 20 million phone numbers, no matter how many will it get in the final.
Compared with the rapid development of mobile resale services in China Unicom, the performance of China Telecom is far from satisfying. At present, the total number of mobile resale services subscribers is only about 1 million in China Telecom, which is less than that of Snail Mobile. Of course, many reasons have resulted in this situation, including the network standard, the resale modes or even the brand recognition etc.
At present, the fanaticism that virtual operators showed in last summer has faded, and the new enterprises are more practical in judging the mobile resale services. Enterprises in the fourth batch of virtual operators that made major moves recently gave full considerations on how to serve their main business before the launch of their brands, such as Xingmei Life, HoDo group and other companies. The vice president of Xingmei Zhang Linmiao said: "The enterprise itself is the main body and foundation for applying the license, the mobile resale services license should be used as a carrier to serve the main body and dilute its communication functions, therefore integrate more diversified services into the main body."
