Huawei showcases the Worlds First CDMA small cell solution

Updated:2011/12/21 10:51

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has demonstrated the world’s first CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) Small Cell solution integrated with WiFi in order to meet operator’s requirements for high traffic density and deeper network coverage.

Showcased at the CDMA Summit 2011, Huawei noted the sharp increase in data traffic of Mobile Broadband (MBB) subscribers over the past few years. With this latest solution, operators can deploy networks quickly, increase the quality of experience (QoE) for customers, and reduce the operation and maintenance (O&M) costs since both the macro and micro networks are deployed using one management system.

Huawei's CDMA Small Cell solution improves coverage and capacity in blind spots of indoor places such as office buildings, shopping malls, and hotels, as well as for outdoor areas. It can also be deployed easily without an equipment room, saving operators on the cost of site and labor.

Additionally, Huawei's CDMA Small Cell solution can be used without a GPS (Global Positioning System) signal, maintaining coverage in areas such as basements, elevators and mines.  The solution has been designed for easy installation and plug-and-play service, supporting various access technologies such as DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), LAN (Local Area Network), PON (Passive Optical Network) and satellite.

“This is a significant step for Huawei in further contributing to the development of MBB on a global level by improving the user experience and reducing the costs network deployment for operators,” said Wu Hui, President of CDMA&LTE Network, Huawei.
