China Unicom Chairman Chang Xiaobing says the development of China's third-generation mobile phone network service will enter a golden period, despite the gloomy industrial situation worldwide.
He says diversified customer demand will lead to the expansion of such services, including faster data downloads, allowing cell phone users to make video calls and watch TV programs.
He added that more opportunities and competition will emerge after telecom operators receive 3G licenses from the government.
