Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is set to launch a series of TD-SCDMA data cards in 2009 to suit demand from telecoms operator China Mobile Limited (SEHK: 0941 and NYSE: CHL), announces the Shenzhen-headquartered telecoms equipment maker on December 22.
A variety of data cards based on the nation's homegrown TD-SCDMA technology will be rolled out to facilitate TD-SCDMA users' access to the high-speed 3G network and help consolidate growth for the TD-SCDMA network operator in the 3G era, said Chen Chongjun, director for Huawei terminal marketing and engineering department.
There will be a sharp increase in TD-SCDMA users in China after the world's No. One data card seller launches its TD-SCDMA data cards, predicts industry insiders. Currently, sales volume of TD-SCDMA data cards in the country stands six times as many as that of TD-SCDMA mobile phones.
