China Mobile pledges its TD-SCDMA network would cover 95% commercial hot area of prefecture-level cities with the scheduled base stations 145,000 by 2011, according to Wang Jianzhou, president of China Mobile.
As of Dec. 3, China Mobile had set up 17,672 base stations and created a network covering 9.5 million users. The number of China Mobile's TD subscribers totaled 337,000, of which 154,000 were in the social test program initiated from Apr. 1. The rest are Olympic service clients and participants in the commercial use trial, according to Wang.
The Chinese telecom operator sold 72,000 TD terminals during the commercial trial, including 12,000 mobile phones and 59,800 data cards.
