Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ranks first in overall capacity in China's IT industry on the new Top 100 list by comprehensive targets, followed by Haier Group and Founder Group, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released recently.
In terms of company size, Legend Holdings, parent of China's leading PC producer Lenovo Group (SEHK:0992), is the first with its revenue totaling 146.2 billion yuan (US$21.4 million) in 2007, while Huawei leads its peers in terms of profit and R&D expense, as its profits hit 5.5 billion yuan, and R&D expenses, 7.1 billion yuan in 2007.
The list, based on companies' 2007 performance, and referring to such standards as company size, revenue and innovation, includes in 12 new enterprises, replacing those had retarded revenue growth or suffered loss.
The 100 enterprises, out of more than 50,000 in the industry, generated a total revenue of 1,271.6 billion yuan, a 13 per cent increase comparing to the previous Top 100 list, accounting for 22.7 per cent of the IT industry's total.
Their joint profit amounted to 50.3 billion yuan, soaring 125.7 per cent, accounting for 24 per cent of the industry's total. And their taxation contribution went up 17 per cent to 44 billion yuan, accounting for 57.1 per cent of the total.
The Top 100 enterprises continued to expand their scale, and two on the list each generated a revenue exceeding 100 billion yuan, in 2007.
The R&D activities of the Top 100 cost them 49.2 billion yuan, nearly half of the industry's total. The R&D expenses accounted for 3.9 per cent of their total revenue, higher than the industry's average 1.8 per cent.
