China has made much headway in industrialization of CMMB mobile TV by attracting more than 200 companies at home and abroad in the past year, according to Zhang Haitao, vice president of the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT).
So far six companies have come up with CMMB chips. Some companies have launched other related CMMB products.
At the moment, SARFT is pushing for expansion of CMMB mobile TV network. It is set to kick off CMMB mobile TV programs in 100 cities across the nation this year.
After serving the 2008 Beijing Olympics, SARFT will make it the priority to improve the operational models and form a complete industry chain.
So far SARFT has issued six cell phone TV licenses. The six license bearers are CCTV International, SMG, China National Radio, China Radio International, Southern Media Corporation, and Beijing TV Station.
