Datang Mobile, Huawei and ZTE took a combined 90 percent share in China Mobile's latest tender for equipment for use in its second phase of TD-SCDMA network construction, local media reported on Oct. 24.

Datang Mobile, Huawei and ZTE each won about 30 percent of the equipment tender, while a number of other companies picked up the remaining 10 percent, Shenzhen Evening News reported, citing an unnamed industry source.

However, when contacted by Interfax, both Huawei and Datang Mobile said that the final results of the tender have not been determined, and that the final official results may differ from preliminary information. The companies declined to provide further comment. The final bidding results will be released on Oct. 30.

A source from ZTE said that the final result is unknown, but ZTE is likely to win 35 percent or more of the equipment tender.

An analyst told Interfax that foreign companies such as Ericsson may also win a certain percentage of the tender.

Datang Mobile, Huawei, ZTE, Nokia Siemens, Ericsson, China Putian, Fiberhome and New Postcom competed for shares in the tender. None of the companies used a low-price strategy to compete in the equipment tender, in contrast to the China Telecom CDMA tender several weeks ago, according to the report.

China Mobile announced its intent to expand its TD-SCDMA network to an additional 28 cities in August, and in September, it initiated a tender for the necessary equipment.

ZTE won nearly 50 percent of China Mobile's first phase TD-SCDMA network construction tender, involving eight cities.
