China Unicom Group launches bidding for WCDMA technology

China United Telecommunications Corporation (Unicom Group), parent company of China Unicom  has lately launched its first round of bidding for WCDMA technology, according to www.c114.com.

Telecom equipment manufacturers including Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, ZTE, Nokia Siemens, and Alcatel-Lucent, participated the bidding.

Although Chinese authority has not issued 3G licenses, carriers are positively preparing for related business. Currently, China Telecommunications Corporation has finished its first round of bidding for procuring CDMA equipments, with CDMA2000 EV-DO appliances available, and China Mobile Communications Corporation's second round of bidding for purchasing TD-SCDMA apparatus is going on.
