Huawei has done it again for the fifth time running after winning an InfoVision Award from the International Engineering Consortium, this time for its NE5000E Cluster Core Router System.
The router won top prize in the Core Network Innovation and Advances category and features the broadband technology industry's first 10 Tbps switch capacity and forwarding performance architecture, Huawei claims.
Designed to reduce power consumption, the cluster router reduces operators' total cost of ownership while meeting the guidelines of Next Generation Networks regarding service provision capabilities, service quality and bandwidth performance, Huawei adds.
"We are honoured to win this prestigious award again and to be recognised continually for our contribution to the all internet protocol broadband industry," says Edward Zhou, director of Huawei Europe Marketing.
Winning the award highlighted the vendor's commitment to green technology in order to create a telecom industry that has sustainable practices and environmental responsibility, Mr Zhou adds.
The telecom sector accounts for about one per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, Matt Walker, senior analyst at Ovum claims.
