China telecom is ready to start pre-paid CDMA service .It is purchasing CDMA network equipment and preparing for takeover of the CDMA network from China Unicom (News - Alert). China telecom is scheduled to kick off pre-paid CDMA service by the end of June 2009.
Currently, China Telecom is planning and arranging for all CDMA network equipment which includes base stations, core network equipment, network access equipment, and network optimization devices.
China Telecom purchased the CDMA network from China Unicom for CNY 110 billion. Wang Xiaochu, chairman of China Telecom, had stated that such price was high but China Telecom would kick off CMDA business as soon as possible to make more money.
The process requires dealing with problems before the service starts. Before officially kicking off the CDMA service, China Telecom is preparing to sort out the difficult technical problems such as data clearance, roaming settlement, charging uniformly, and expects to clear all of them.
China Telecom states that it would be able to complete OCS construction by the end of June 2009.
