China Mobile said it expects to reach agreements with major global mobile operators to reduce its roaming charges in China during the Beijing Olympics.
China Mobile president Wang Jianzhou said in a company statement that the company will also offer overseas users with roaming SIM cards and phone leasing services during the Olympics.
China Mobile will provide live broadcast services for the games via TD-SCDMA handsets, the statement said.
"We have abundant supply of TD-SCDMA handsets and diversified 3G services for consumers during the Olympic Games," Wang said, adding that the TD-SCDMA networks are ready for large-scale use.
According to media reports, China Mobile will have 100,000 TD-SCDMA users during the games.
