Newly released third-party evaluations of China Mobile's TD-SCDMA networks have shown that those in Guangzhou and Shanghai have performed better in commercial trials than those in Beijing, Qinhuangdao, Tianjin, Shenzen, Xiamen, Shenyang, Baoding and Qingdao.
A source at one equipment manufacturer stated that the tests measured network connectivity, the number of dropped calls, and other indicators of network quality. The Guangzhou and Shanghai networks not only performed better than their counterparts in Beijing and Shenzhen, but also led other cities by a significant margin in their low rate of dropped calls, with an average of only 3% of telephone calls ending in forced disconnection.
Editor's Note: Completed in late January, the Shenzhen network includes 1,301 outdoor base stations and 578 indoor stations.
