Huawei-Symantec, RMI in strategic partnership

RMI Corp, a leading provider of high performance data processors and solutions, has entered into a strategic partnership with Huawei-Symantec, a joint venture established to develop data security and storage devices. The idea is to deploy RMI's multi-core multi-threaded processors SecowayUSG9000 and SecowayUSG6000 for assembly of data storage and security devices, said industry sources. Huawei-Symantec has also announced the launch of the JV's first high performance unified security gateway device, according to a company statement. Huawei-Symantec's SecowayUSG9000 and SecowayUSG6000 are world-class products provided by two powerful forces in networking and security, said Su Li-Qing, president of Huawei-Symantec, at a press briefing. He added that RMI's support is expected to make a significant contribution to R&D and new product development. Su stressed Huawei-Symantec is delighted at its strategic partnership with RMI. RMI has cooperated closely with the Chinese JV since it started operations in Feb. this year. It has teamed up with Huawei-Symantec to develop high-quality, cutting-edge products in the shortest possible time, said Behrooz Abdi, president and CEO of RMI. According to the announcement, the JV is planning to introduce its 40G gateway firewall the next year, while work on new product development and upgradation of existing products is making good progress.
