China Telecom plans to recruit as many as 240 employees for the CDMA mobile business that it is encouraged to take over from China Unicom, said sources from the telecom operator on July 7, 2008.
The new recruits will mainly work as managers and engineers for the mobile network optimizing center. In addition to China Telecom's head office, the employees will also be appointed to branches in cities like Beijing and Shanghai and provinces such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang, according to sources.
This move, according to the Chinese telecoms operator, is part of its efforts to expand the to-be-launched CDMA mobile telecommunications business. China Telecom previously has revealed its plan to set up four new departments for the CDMA business, namely individual user division, mobile service division, wireless network optimizing center and terminal operating unit.
The to-be-operator of CDMA network sets a goal to increase the number of CDMA subscribers to 100 million in 2009.
