China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, 941.HK) has partnered with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) to add China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) chips to TD-SCDMA phones to enable TD-SCDMA users to watch mobile TV on the CMMB standard, reports Sohu quoting SARFT vice director Sun Chaohui. China Mobile is reportedly bidding on 40,000 CMMB-enabled TD-SCDMA handsets. Results of the bid are expected out in two weeks, said the report.
