A source at CMMB manufacturer Innofidei has revealed that "the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) wants to combine CMMB and TD-SCDMA, and TD-SCDMA phones will have CMMB mobile phone TV functionality." It is also believed that Innofidei is set to join the TD-SCDMA Alliance.

Industry insiders said that this will make the elevation of rival format T-MMB to a national standard meaningless.
