HK's PCCW says Zhang resigned as non-executive director due to changes at Netcom

PCCW Ltd said Zhang Chunjiang, former chairman of China Network Communications Group Corp (CNC), has resigned as a non-executive director of PCCW.

His resignation took effect yesterday.

Zhang also resigned as chairman of CNC and its Hong Kong-listed unit China Netcom due to management changes related to China's telecom industry restructuring.

Zhang was one of the directors appointed to PCCW's board by CNC following a share purchase deal in January 2005.

CNC holds 20 pct stake in PCCW.
