China's Telecom Service Volume in April up 57% YoY

MIIT released the communications industry operation report in the first four months of this year on May 22.

In the period, the telecom service volume in China climbed 47.3 percent to CNY683.4 billion, brought revenue of CNY424.1 billion with a 5.6 percent YoY increase.

Up 56.9 percent year over year, China's telecom service volume hit CNY187.8 billion, generating revenue of CNY110.9 billion which increased 5.4 percent, in April.

The percentage of mobile telecommunication service revenue rose slightly.

In the first four months of 2017, China's three major state-owned telecom operators achieved revenue of CNY306.6 billion totally with a 4.5 percent YoY growth, accounting for 72.3 percent of China's telecom service revenue, which was up 0.4 percent compared with the month before; they obtained revenue of CNY117.5 billion which increased 8.8 percent with fixed telecom services, accounting for 27.7 percent of the telecom service revenue, down 0.8 percent compared with the same period of last year. Voice services represent 19.6 percent of the telecom services, falling 8 percent YoY.

Mobile data services grew 31.2 percent year over year. In the first four months, China's three major operators achieved revenue of CNY65.1 billion, up 10.9 percent, from the fixed data and Internet services, which accounted for 15.3 percent of telecom services. The mobile data and Internet services rose 31.2 percent to CNY178.8, accounting for 42.2 percent of the telecom services and raising the telecom service revenue by 10.6 percent.
