China Mobile Expands TD-LTE, Drives "the Belt & Road"

On May 8, the State Council Information Office made presentations of the construction of "the Belt and Road".

Shang Bing, chairman of China Mobile, as the telecommunication industry representative at the conference, said the company has taken an active part in "the Belt and Road" construction.  It focused mainly on strengthening the interoperability efforts of the communication information infrastructure and offering quality and cheap communication information services.

China Mobile has built 8 cross-border land optical fiber cables in Northeast Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia with the transmission capacity reaching 6270G, 5 international submarine optical fiber cables which link China to Asia Pacific and Europe. The Chinese telecom giant also built 29 information interaction nodes and 5 international communication service entrances and exits.

Mr. Shang said that China Mobile has paid great attention to the global technology standard. It has been advancing TD-LTE network development, investing CNY45 million and building 1.57 million TD-LTE base stations, which is 32 percent of the number globally, in over three years. China Mobile has about 570 million TD-LTE subscribers by far, which account for 30 percent of 4G users in the world.
