Qualcomm, AsiaTelco Sign 3G CDMA License Agreement

AsiaTelco Technologies Holding Company Limited (AsiaTelco), a supplier of CDMA terminal products, has entered into a subscriber unit and modem card license agreement with Qualcomm Qualcomm has granted AsiaTelco a worldwide patent license to develop, manufacture and sell subscriber units and modem cards implementing the CDMA2000, WCDMA and TD-SCDMA standards.
By signing this agreement with Qualcomm, AsiaTelco is seeking to expand its presence in the 3G networks market and offer new ways for people to stay connected. Operator launches of 3G networks are on the rise, and these deployments can be boosted with the use of low-cost, feature-rich CDMA terminals and modem cards like those provided by AsiaTelco. Qualcomm develops and delivers digital wireless communications products and services based on CDMA and other advanced technologies. ¡°Qualcomm is committed to helping advance the convergence of mobile communications and consumer electronics,¡± said Marvin Blecker, president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing. ¡°AsiaTelco''s license will enable the company to expand its existing offerings to include all 3G CDMA standards and to join market leaders in driving down handset prices and increasing wireless capabilities.¡± Recently, Qualcomm also entered into a partnership with BorgSolutions to provide customers with advanced fleet management and tracking capabilities from one seamless, Web-based platform. BorgSolutions, a business process applications developer, has fully integrated its patent-pending fleet management platform Astral, with Qualcomm''s GlobalTRACS and GlobalTRACS LiteTM equipment management systems.
