China''s sales of smartphones in the first quarter increased 4.8% from the fourth quarter last year to 8.24 million units with an average price of RMB 2,470 each set, according to official data.
The figure contributes 19.1% to the total sales of mobile phones in China. Sales income amounted to RMB 20.4 billion (US$2.91 billion), up 7.6% from the previous quarter.
Obviously, smartphone has become a major component of
cell phone products as it owns noticeable advantages compared with traditional ones, market analysts said, and the price of smartphone is expected to be further lower following resources consolidation in the industry.
Nokia remains its dominating place in China''s smartphone market and the trend becomes more obvious. Its sales of smartphone accounted for 71.2% of the whole market, while
Motorola''s market share continues to shrink to 14.7%.
