Updated:2008/3/31 11:36
ZTE Corp. (ZTE) has selected Beceem''s BCS200 Mobile WiMAX Wave 2 chipset to power its portfolio of Mobile WiMAX devices. The selection of Beceem''s chipset is a key enabler for ZTE to meet its commitment to deliver WiMAX PC accessory solutions such as USB dongle modems as well as advanced desktop modem solutions for Sprint''s WiMAX network.
By combining the product development capabilities of ZTE with the field proven performance of Beceem''s chipset, both companies expect to become the leading equipment providers in the Mobile WiMAX networks deployed by Sprint and many other operators around the World. "ZTE is fast emerging as a recognized leader in the Mobile WiMAX industry, and we are very pleased that ZTE has selected our Wave 2 chipset for their Sprint devices," says Dave Carroll, Vice President of World Wide Sales for Beceem. "The selection is a reflection of our leadership in the Mobile WiMAX chipset space, as recently acknowledged by Sprint when our chipset was chosen to meet their launch requirements. WiMAX performance leadership and field proven network compatibility are the key benefits our chipset provides, in addition to the over 2 years of field-optimized mobility and MIMO performance." "With increasing WiMAX deployments and network launches in 2008 we are now at a crucial stage in the adoption of Mobile WiMAX, and we chose Beceem''s chipsets because of its performance and due to Beceem''s extensive IOT position," says Zhang Junhai, General Manager of Wireless Data Terminal Management.
