Bharti Airtel Launches GSM Services in the Channel Islands

Guernsey Airtel, a subsidiary of the Bharti Group, has formally launched its mobile services in Guernsey (Channel Islands, Europe). The Company will offer products and services under the Airtel-Vodafone brand to customers on the Island.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal said, "We are happy to launch our services in Guernsey and expand our footprint in Channel Islands. Our services in Jersey have been well received by customers and we are looking forward to delighting customers in Guernsey. We are committed to bringing the best in class services to customers and adding value to the community and businesses on the Island."

Bharti made its debut in Europe (Channel Islands) last year with launch of mobile services under the Airtel-Vodafone brand in Jersey in June 2007.

Guernsey currently has two network operators, Guernsey Telecom and Wave Telecom. Between them they have just under an estimated 65,000 subscribers - which according to figures from the Mobile World database equates to a population penetration level of 98.6%.
