Apple is reported to have placed an order for 10 million
3G models of its
iPhone handset - according to Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney. He cites sources at Asian OEMs that the company has placed the order - in addition to a further order for 10 million of its current model.
The handset is also rumoured to contain an OLED display - which could help the company slightly overcome its problems with battery performance.
The Gartner analyst told the iPod Observer that Apple has had to move up its planned agenda for the 3G model following poor sales in Europe where consumers were unimpressed with the slow data speeds offered by the
EDGE based model.
