Japan''s KDDI to boost overseas data hub network

Updated:2008/3/12 13:57

KDDI Japan''s second-largest telecom carrier KDDI Corp plans to invest 30 billion yen in building or expanding data centers in the UK, France and Singapore by 2010 to augment its operation and maintenance of corporate information systems, the Nikkei reported on Wednesday, without citing sources.

Through these centers, KDDI aims to handle international data transmissions involving Japanese companies with operations overseas, the business daily said.

The telecom carrier currently operates such centers in about 10 countries, including the US and China.

These operations, which include global telecommunications services, generate annual sales of more than 100 billion yen, the report said.

With the construction of additional hubs, it aims to lift overseas processing capabilities by 50 percent by 2010.
