BBC Worldwide, the commercial
arm of the UK public broadcaster, has announced plans to offer programming for purchase and download on the iTunes store in the UK. The move follows the launch of the BBC iPlayer last year, which allows UK residents to download a selection of BBC programmes for free for viewing for 30 days. From 19 February, fans will be able to buy episodes of popular series such as Torchwood, Life On Mars, Little Britain, Spooks, Robin Hood and other BBC classics for GBP 1.89 per episode. Recently aired programmes, such as Ashes to Ashes, will be available on iTunes after they have been made available on the BBC iPlayer.
