Vonage unveils communications hub V-Portal
Updated:2008/1/8 11:36
VoIP provider Vonage has announced plans to develop more personalised services, starting with a new communications hub called the V-Portal. The device is a digital voice adapter and single port router with a built-in LCD and contact book, aimed at facilitating features such as group calls and voice-activated dialing. Based on customer feedback and research, the V-portal is part of the new MyVonage strategy for developing user-driven products and services. The V-Portal helps with service installation and basic troubleshooting, and can also be used for caller ID, timing calls, call logging, access to Vonage service numbers and displaying the date and time. Vonage will also be introducing the Vonage Contact Book in 2008, which allows customers to integrate all contacts from their home, desktop and mobile address books while providing requested features such as group calling, voice-activated dialing, speed dial and call blast. Vonage hopes that future versions of this product can also be used from any non-Vonage phone the customer has. Selected new customers can try out the Alpha version of Vonage Contact Book from 9 January. The V-Portal is available for USD 9.99 after a USD 70 instant rebate, plus a USD 29.99 activation fee.
