UAE-based MVNO start-up Friendi Mobile will launch its first commercial operation in the MENA region in the first quarter of 2008, reports CommsMEA. The company''s CEO Mikkel Vinter did not disclose which market Friendi Mobile will initially launch its services in but added that the company was in negotiations to enter fourteen markets throughout the MENA region. However, he did state that the regulatory climate and market conditions in both Bahrain and Jordan were amenable to the presence of MVNO players. Friendi Mobile intends to promote itself as a niche player in the prepaid consumer segment and confirmed that the company will target single-digit market share wherever it launches operations.
