Oman''s Nawras says that a recent free MMS promotion has resulted in a 10 fold increase in MMS traffic on the free days. The promotion gave all Nawras customers the chance to try the service, allowing videos, photos and multimedia taken by mobile phone, to be sent at no cost to family, friends and colleagues across Oman, every weekend over a two-month period.
Such was the popularity of the service that ten times as many MMS were being sent by the end of the promotion, than at the beginning. Sending photographs stimulated the greatest interest and customers are continuing to enjoy this feature, sending picture messages on a scale never seen before in the Sultanate. Expressing his delight with the results, Adnan Idrees, Nawras Customer Relationship Manager, said, "The response to this first-ever free MMS promotion was overwhelming, showing that Nawras customers are keen to have an opportunity to try out the latest technology. As the number of interested people using the service increased dramatically each weekend, we could see that the popularity of picture messaging was catching on quickly. The Nawras network was tested at the busiest times but the highly experienced team of Nawras and Ericsson professionals expertly handled the millions of MMS around the clock, allowing our customers to experience this creative service for free, without any major problems!" The network had previously been benchmarked with 100 other Ericsson networks worldwide and came out top of the list in three key performance indicators including the least number of dropped calls. Nawras says that it is already planning to give its customers another great MMS offer in the very near future. Source: cellular-news |
