In recently held “2015 China International Big Data Summit”, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Wu Hequan said that video apps have led to 23% annual growth rate of the global Internet traffic.And the global IP traffic has increased 5 times from 2009 to 2014 and it will continue to increase 3 times in the next five years. The global Internet traffic in 2019 will be 64 times of that in 2005, and the average traffic per capita will increase from 6GB in 2014 to 18GB in 2019.
The rapid growth of Internet traffic is mainly from videos, according to the introduction of Wu Hequan, consumer traffic accounted for 82% of the total IP traffic, while the Internet traffic accounted for 77%, of which the videos, especially HD-videos will account for 76%.
At the same time, it can be observed that the mobile Internet data traffic has increased rapidly and maintained a 61% annual growth rate, it has accounted for 12% of the global IP traffic. In particular, the growth rate of mobile data traffic reached 100% in this year.
