On a recently held conference, Liu Yunjie, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the dean of Jiangsu Future Network Innovation Institute, said that the Internet has become an important infrastructure of human society, which plays an important role in promoting the social development, but with the rapid increase in data traffic, the problems that the Internet exposes in scalability, security, control and management and other aspects are becoming more and more serious.
Liu Yunjie pointed out that China started late in the traditional Internet field and has always been in a passive following state, but China is in the same developing level with other countries in the future network development, "we began to focus on the development of future network from 2005, and organized three teams in 2007, including the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science(ICT), Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Tsinghua University, and we build Jiangsu Future Network Innovation Institute in 2011."
According to Liu Yunjie, the talents have expanded from the about 100 people in 3 teams to 18 teams with more than 300 people, gathering from domestic and abroad. "We proposed the architecture of service-customized network (SCN), and successfully developed the key equipment of the main network, which have been used in the telecom operators, professional sectors and the EU. In August 2014, the first trail network of China Future Network based on the SCN framework was launched in Nanjing, covering 26 cities nationwide, it realized interconnection with the EU and USA, and would be verified by 80 teams."
