Shenzhen-listed TCL Corp<000100>, a major Chinese television and mobile phone manufacturer, announced that it has started mass production of the LCD module at its Huizhou plant in Guangdong province, aiming at further controlling costs and increasing profitability.
Currently, TCL has one LCD module production line under operation, while another new line will be installed in the Huizhou plant by the end of this month.
In addition, two new LCD module production lines are scheduled to be operational in next April.
Upon the completion of the four production lines, the company will be able to produce 3 million LCD TVs and 2 million LCD components per year.
The move will help TCL to meet LCD TV production demand from both domestic and overseas markets, sources said.
The company is expected to sell 5 million LCD TVs next year, according to Li Dongsheng, TCL's chairman.
