China's software services industry realized total revenue of RMB 345.67 billion in the first half of this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 30.4%, according to statistics released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
During the first six months of 2008, China's software export and software service outsourcing grew 45% with a total export volume of US$4.95 billion.
As of the end of 2007, there are 18,000 certified software enterprises in China, 521 of which have realized revenue of more than RMB 100 million. The value of China's software service industry was RMB 583.4 billion in 2007, accounting for 8.74% of the world's total. The weighting was 7.44% higher than the previous year.
China's software and information industry still remains weak, compared with the advanced international levels. However, the overall development environment for the industry is favorable and will continue to be a driving force for China's economic growth in 2008 and the coming years, said a senior MIIT official.
