Cisco, IBM, Intel, Juniper, Microsoft create internet security consortium

Updated:2008/6/30 11:04

IBM has joined the creation of the Industry Consortium for Advancement of Security on the Internet (ICASI). Cisco, IBM, Intel, Juniper Networks, and Microsoft have created the Industry Consortium for Advancement of Security on the Internet (ICASI).

The non-profit organization will provide a forum for global companies committed to proactively addressing complex, multi-product security threats and to better protecting enterprises, governments and citizens, as well as the critical IT infrastructures that support them.

ICASI plans to enable IT vendors to cooperate in fighting multi-vendor security threats. The consortium will develop a mechanism for international vendor and customer involvement, and allow for a government-neutral way of solving serious global, multi-product security incidents. The consortium is focused on four guiding principles, namely customer security; agility and effectiveness; collaboration and trust; leadership and innovation. ICASI aims to help IT vendors identify and solve multi-vendor security threats and reduce the security threat impacting customer security. The organization plans to improve the efficiency of multi-vendor threat tools and security response practices, and will create an environment where information – which is fundamental in quickly solving security-related threats – can be shared.
