Baicells' CrowdCell leads to an open, shared and flexible networks

Updated:2017/6/28 10:54

Mobile world congress shanghai 2017 is held from June 28th to 1st July. The world's leading provider of LTE solutions, Baicells Technologies attends this great show with the theme of "LTE easy as wifi". Geared to the needs of different type of operators and ISPs, Baicells brings about different and attractive solutions, such as OpenRAN solution for mobile operators, Fixed LTE solution for FWA operators, emergency communication solutions for specific industries, as well as IoT solution to promote the development of the Internet of things. One of the most commercially valuable and disruptive products is CrowdCell.

Based on UE Relay technology, CrowdCell is an innovative SDR (Software Defined Radio) small cell which can work without accessing wired backhaul. For boosting indoor and outdoor coverage and capacity, CrowdCell is designed to use wireless cellular network as backhaul to make full use of the existing network infrastructure resources efficiently. Benefit by SDR, the built-in system of this small cell can be compiled and modified through software easily, that is why CrowdCell can be applied to different reception mode flexibly.

In some IoT scenarios, by supporting NB-IoT technology, Baicells CrowdCell can implement the depth coverage of the Internet of things in scenarios like logistics tracking, smart city and so on. Operators can save at least 99% of the CaPex by using cellular as backhaul, instead of building a whole macro coverage with high cost. Only power is needed in deploying a NB-IoT CrowdCell£¬even provided by common battery.

Moreover, CrowdCell can also be used as a relay between mobile terminal and macro station. By supporting LTE reception mode, it uses the connection that has been established to the macro station as backhaul link, utilizes and amplifies macro station's capabilities, to enhance the performance of indoor coverage and to improve end users' experience. CrowdCell can also act as a drone base station in scenarios such as emergency communication, public safety, high-density coverage and data collection.

"Globally, the challenge that operators and ISPs are facing is rising constantly. Meeting the demand of variety scenarios of outdoor coverage and improving the performance of indoor blind area coverage have become the key requirements of networks." Baicells'CEO, Mr. Sun Lixin said, "By supporting UE Relay and SDR, CrowdCell enable the service supplier to make full use of existing resources with multi-scene multi-mode and multi-purpose. We have completed some commercial test with operators, and I believe that an open, flexible, applicable network world is about to open."
