Alibaba’s listing in the United Stats has evoked heated discussion in the industry. Recently, the President of Xiaomi Technology Company, Lei Jun, accepted the interview and said that he congratulated on Alibaba’s listing and there would be no IPO plan in 5 years.
“I sent a congratulation message to Alibaba executives immediately. I think this proud not only belongs to Alibaba but also the whole internet industry, the whole Chinese people. We all agreed that Xiaomi would have no IPO plan in 5 years when it was established. Four years have passed but our answer is still NO.” Lei Jun believes listing is just a stage for company development, while the most important thing is to perfect company’s service and to become a company which enable its users, employees and shareholders all happy. That is the essence.
He says, the target of Xiaomi is “to make everyone in the world, no matter from which country, race, ethnic group, to use technology products from China.”
Lei Jun says, “Since its establishment, it takes 14 years for Alibaba to be listed, but Xiaomi has only 4 years’ history and we can wait for another 10 years. What we do is to make things better, enjoy the process and get reward to improve everyone’s life. Without IPO, Xiaomi can achieve the goal as well.”
