LG Electronics Co., the world's No. 5 mobile phone maker, said Tuesday that it will launch its high-end mobile phones in China this year, aiming to expand its presence in the world's largest mobile phone market.
The South Korean company said it has won the bidding for handset models of the new third-generation mobile services provided by China's three major carriers, China Telecom Corp., China Mobile Ltd. and China Unicom Ltd.
The third-generation mobile service will allow users to enjoy video telephony and other multimedia features through faster and more seamless connectivity.
LG Electronics said its phones will have touch screens, 3-inch or larger displays and 5-megapixel or 8-megapixel cameras.
Some of the models will also feature high-speed Internet access, it said.
