Samsung is reported to be preparing to launch a new smartphone based on the Google backed Android operating system within the next few months. The second "Google Phone" is expected to be available in both GSM/3G and CDMA options and sold via T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel.
Sources told the Korean IT News publication that the company has around 80 developers working on the handset. The company is predicted to select a full touch screen phone based on its Omnia and Instinct smarphones.
An official of Samsung Electronics said, “We are accelerating the development process for Google phone in order to meet the specific need of local carriers. We will be able to release Google phone in the second quarter of the next year in the US market.”
Currently, HTC are the sole seller of an Android based phone, although an Australian company, Kogan Technologies has claimed to have a model available for sale in January.
