Amoi Electronics, one of the leading mobile phone brands in China, yesterday clinched a strategic agreement with Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa to launch first Hutchison Whampoa-branded customized Internet mobile phone. Spokesperson for Amoi Electronics discloses that the phone has been named as INQ. It enables handset users to get fast access to the Internet to make a phone call or surf the Web via their mobile phones. The phone is expected to trim down telephone fees drastically. Under the agreement, Amoi Electronics is scheduled to delivery the first batch of INQs in early November. However, the two parties have not disclosed the price. Hutchison Whampoa says that it represents Amoi Electronics a big opportunity bacause the Hong Kong telecom operator has 10 3G licenses globally. The partnership with Hutchison Whampoa will help the Chinese mobile phone maker ship its products the world over in the midst of export crisis in China.
