Yin Shujun, assistant general manager of mobile phone manufacturer Hisense Communications, revealed yesterday at the Beijing P&T/Expo Comm China 2008 that Hisense has invested more than RMB 200 mln toward research and development of TD-SCDMA. Yin said further that at the end of this month, Hisense will launch its first TD-HSDPA 2.2M data card, delivering speeds approximately 6 times faster than the TD-SCDMA data cards currently available on the market. At the same time, Hisense is developing a TD-HSDPA mobile phone with an anticipated launch date set for the first quarter of next year.
Yin stated that Hisense is going to begin a comprehensive expansion of its investment in TD-SCDMA, while at the same time reducing its investment in GSM. The company currently holds approximately 10% market share in the CDMA mobile phone industry.
