Samsung Electronics said that it is offering Wireless Olympics Works (WOW) 3G service on China-developed TD-SCDMA network in Beijing. The handset maker had provided the same service during the Athens Olympics and Torino Winter Olympics. A variety of information is provided through Atos Origin, one of the official sponsors of the Olympic Games.

Samsung also is offering Push To Talk (PTT) service for the members of the Organizing Committee. Samsung provided 15,000 units of SGH-L288 and SGH-i688 to the Organizing Committee in April for the service.

WOW offers the schedule of matches, results, athletes’ information, and weather to mobile phones. The service now provided in Beijing consists of mINFO2008 (mobile information) for event information and OCM 2008 (Olympic Community Messaging) for communication among the organizers.
