Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today said it has appointed Anil Sethi as President and Region Head of India unit with immediate effect. 

Sethi would be based at Sony Ericsson office in Delhi, a company release said here.

Prior to this, Sethi was Senior Vice-President of Broadcast and Business Solutions and System Integration of Sony Canada.

"Today's appointment underlines the growing strategic importance of India for Sony Ericsson...One of Anil's focus areas will be to drive our growth plan in India," Sony Ericsson President Dick Komiyama said.

Sony Ericsson recorded a sales of over 100-millionc phones in 2007.

It has operations in over 80 countries, including manufacturing bases in China, Europe, India, Japan and North America.
